The 4 sentence email your LPs need today
It is August 22. September 15 is 24 days away. If you are still waiting on a K-1 from us, you are not forgotten. Your file is in process and we are pushing hard to get it in your hands.
If you manage a fund and you are still waiting on K-1s, you already know what your inbox looks like. LPs asking for a status. You forwarding a vague answer from your CPA. Everybody guessing.
Here is what we have learned after issuing thousands of K-1s through the years. The delay is rarely what damages trust. The silence is.
Funds that communicate well almost never face investor blowback, even when the K-1 slips, because their LPs are never left guessing. Funds that go quiet get remembered as the fund that is always late. That reputation shows up on the next raise, and nobody tells you why.
Every investor update should do 3 things. Clarity, where things actually stand today. Confidence, proof you are in control of the process. Trust, evidence you communicate openly, good news or bad.
It does not take much. Here is the whole thing. Email this to your LPs today –
Subject: Your K-1 timeline
[Name], a quick update so you are not guessing.
Your K-1 for [entity] is on track for delivery by [date]. We are currently waiting on [specific item], expected [date].
If that timeline changes, you will hear it from me before you have to ask.
[Your name]
That is 4 sentences. Send it today and you have changed the story your investors are telling themselves.
Two rules make it stick. Do not forward CPA emails to your LPs. Translate them. And name a tax quarterback on your team, because if nobody formally owns the tax calendar, the process defaults to whoever panics first.
The full playbook is in K1 Ready, our field guide for fund managers. 9 sections covering the 6 bottlenecks that stall almost every fund return, the January 31 close date that decides your entire season, cap table hygiene, third party timing, and a month by month calendar built backward from the deadline.

If we are working on your K-1s, we are grinding this weekend to get them out. Need a status? Reach out to Princess and she will get you one.
September 15th and Oct 15th Deadlines
The team has their heads down right now, pushing out the last minute K1s and getting returns across the finish line. There is a lot going on, so if you have a tax return with us, I am asking for a little grace and patience. Our priority is making sure everything is accurate and correct the first time. If we reach out for information, please respond as quickly as you can. We are juggling multiple clients and deadlines, and time matters.
If you need an update, reach out to any member of our admin team and they will get you a status update. And if you do not want to wait until the last minute next year, we do not either. Reach out and let’s talk about what we can do differently to improve the process and get ahead of it next year.
